The Assistant General Counsel – Hospital Operations must be a transactional/regulatory attorney with experience in the healthcare industry, particularly with hospitals. This attorney works closely with key leadership at both the corporate and local levels across the health system. This attorney will provide daily counsel on a range of operational issues. This attorney will prepare a wide variety of corporate agreements such as physician agreements, joint ventures, leases, vendor contracts, supply chain contracts, non-disclosure agreements, and affiliation agreements. This attorney must have experience with relevant state laws affecting referral and financial relationships between health care providers. Must be practical and solution oriented, able to work with business units to solve legal challenges. This attorney must actively manage, supervise and coordinate outside counsel in their assigned areas, direct strategy, and contain costs.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING
Required qualifications:
1. J.D. from ABA-accredited law school.
2. Unrestricted licensed to practice law and member in Good Standing of at least one state bar.
3. Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
4. Strong knowledge of hospital business operations and considerations.
5. Experience with healthcare regulatory compliance matters.
Preferred qualifications:
1. Minimum of 5 years of prior legal experience in law firm, public sector, and/or in-house position.
2. At least 2-3 years of healthcare transactional or regulatory experience.
3. Ability to exercise independent judgment and maintain confidential and sensitive information.
4. Experience/expertise in providing legal counsel for matters involving federal laws and regulations governing the provision of and payment for healthcare services, including, but not limited to the Stark Law, the Antikickback Statute, the False Claims Act, and other Fraud, Waste and Abuse laws and regulations, along with the Medicare/Medicaid Conditions of Participation, physician/physician group contracting, Medical Staff/peer review matters, hospital/facility licensing, telemedicine, Ambulatory Surgical Centers, and other healthcare operations
5. Excellent contract negotiation and drafting skills.
6. Excellent interpersonal communication skills; able to effectively interact with all internal and external business partners, including hospital C-Suite personnel, physicians, nurses, and staff.
7. Occasional travel required.

A reasonable compensation estimate for this role, which includes estimated wages, benefits, and other forms of compensation, is $153,753.60 to $249,600.00 on an annualized basis. The exact starting compensation to be offered will be determined at the time of selecting an applicant for hire, in which a wide range of factors will be considered, including but not limited to, skillset, years of applicable experience, education, credentials and licensure.
